Reading Catcat's blog last week gave me an idea for Michael's dinner. As you already know, not many food he would eat. No seafood, no bone-in chicken except for chicken wings (but has to be the small ones), no mushrooms, no soups and etc etc. He's a typical american kid. He'd eat pizza, cheesesteaks and hotdog everyday if I let him!
Anyways, back to the 'idea' for dinner. Its sausage in a roll or also known as pig in the blanket. All you need is croissant dough and sausage. First grill the sausage, then wrap them witht the dough. Put them in the oven at 350F for 16-17min.
They are so good that I have to make a 2nd batch for his lunch too!

Haha! Michael doesn't want bones in his chicken as well? These men don't know what they are missing.
I am running out of lunch ideas for David, so this sausage roll can't come at a better time for me. Did you make the 2nd batch overnight or in the morning?
yalor but better for me coz he'l put those bones in my plate. hahaah!
i made them at night coz he leaves for work at 6.20am. too early for me to cook the sausage, wrap and bake them. i alas kan the tupperware w kitchen towel so when he heats them up, tak soggy sgt.
Oh good! David leaves for work at 5:45am and I am already having trouble waking up at 5! Cannot give up another 16-17 min sleep to bake!

Hey Kak Farina,

He really has no idea what he is missing out on, not eating so many things...

Cath, mestilah sayang. mana boleh tak sayang? :P
Shaa(yg mana ye?), i think he'd go just to look at ppl. he always find our food and way of eating as amusing. ;)
Gert, yes, more bones in our plate! hehe funny pulak bila semua orang buat benda yg sama.
Hi Farina, I just discovered your posting on my other blog. Had a laugh cos I have so badly neglected it. I will blog again on biotech stuff but will do so later. So nice of you to post a comment. I replied to your post but thought I'd better come visit your blog.
Am happy to report that we are making good progress on the Amber/Nurin Alert. We have not forgotten you okay. So you keep blogging and cooking okay.
PS, We students used to cook with crescent rolls too. One time, during the annual Spring Fest on campus we cooked up a big batch of baked curry puffs using crescent roles.
For the filling, we sauteed chopped up sweet yellow onions and curry powder, add diced potatoes and ground beef and the let the mixture simmer until soft. Add water if needed so the filling does not dry out. You can add chopped parsely and spring onions for flavour and colour.
Cool filling and then wrap the crescent roll dough around the filling. You can keep it a triangle shape or just wrap it anyway you want. Then brush some melted butter on it and bake till golden brown. Delicious.
We always make rake in the money for our student fund then. But it was more fun than anything really and our American friends love it.
Kak tembam, speaking of currypuff, iv yet to venture into making them. somehow i tak confident pulak. lol! but maybe il give ur recipe a try. ;)

Farina, you should not be afraid. When I first went to US to study I hardly cooked either. Then I learnt survival cooking techniques with fellow students. My taste in food probably is similar to your beloved hubby, very American fast food type. More for the convenience than the taste really. I can go wihtout rice and sambal belacan for months(not totally though). Not to worry. He will survive.
On that curry puff, don't put too much curry powder. Just add enough to give it a nice flavour. Also I forgot to say after you sautee the onions, you should brown the ground beef with a sprinkle of the curry powder to cut down the beefy smell. After that baru add the diced patatos. I like those big American russet potatos cos it gets soft faster and taste great.
Hint: If you want hubby to eat more veggies, add some chopped eggplants and mushrooms if you are cooking spaghetti sauce, lasagne or pizza. Taste really great with meat and tomato based dishes.
Bon apetit
My friend, Please!
