LPGA to Require English for International Players

No English, no play?

My second post in a day. You know something is up.

"ORLANDO, Fla. (AP)—The LPGA Tour boasts players from all over the world, and it wants all of them to be able to speak English.
The LPGA will require players to speak English starting in 2009, with players who have been LPGA members for two years facing suspension if they can’t pass an oral evaluation of English skills. The rule is effective immediately for new players....."

Petronas Ads Never Fail Me

It is that time of the year again (well, 1 of 4 I think) where everybody is looking forward to Petronas Merdeka 2008 advertisement or commercial, as they are called here in the U S of A. And deliver they did! I have always looked forward to their advertisements and living abroad does not deter me from watching them. Hello Youtube!

Their ads always touch the real people's stories that every Malaysian can relate to. There is a touch of humor, sad and happiness all blended together and they blended really well. You will go "ooh-s" and "aah-s" and might even cry a little bit. The best cure from the headaches you get with the political situation back home, no thanks to both sides of the parties.

I hope you would enjoy the clip as much as I do.

All for The Wrong Reason

Is Avril Lavigne too sexy for Malaysia? Sexier than the PussyCat Dolls? Is crying or shouting or wailing or in this case, constant bitching for the banning of concerts by western women artists more important than making sure that our children are safe? More important than dealing with bag-snatching crimes that has taken more lives and shattered their families?

Why is that they think it is their job and that they are representing the whole of Malaysia? I did not appoint them. Did YOU? I'd like to think that as an adult, I know how to think and decide what is best for me. If I dont like it, I wont do it or see it. Who the hell do they think they are to dictate what is best and what is not for me? And then make it sound like they are representing me?? Have they forgotten that Malaysia is a multi religion and multi racial country? It is after all Avril Lavigne whom we ALL know wears tshirt and jeans when she performs. PAS Youth, did you guys realise that she is not from Girls Gone Wild nor is she from Girls Next Door?!

And when Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister succumbed to this kind of BS (eventhough he denied it has anything to do with that call), it makes me even more mad.

But this drama is apparently not quite over yet as mentioned by who else but Miss Avril Lavigne herself here. There is still hope. To prove to the whole world that we Malay, Chinese, Indian, Iban, Dayak, Bidayuh, Kelabit, Eurasian, Mat Saleh dan lain lain Malaysian know how and WHEN to have fun.

Silver for Malaysia

My friend S called yesterday informing me that Malaysian shuttler is in the final against China around 3am our time. I was of course very happy to hear the news. It has been a long long time since our shuttlers win a medal in the Olympic. So Michael set the alarm for 3am and i actually woke up at 3am hoping to watch the game. Did I get to watch it? NO!!! I waited until 4am and the only games that I got to watch were the women wrestling and table tennis. I guess the live telecast was on the paid channel which we dont subscribe to. Sigh. How I wish I was back home where I am sure they would show it on tv. Live.

Since I didnt get to watch the game, the first thing I did when I woke up this morning was to check online to see the result. Apparently we got the silver medal which is still ok. I am just happy that our player got to the final. Gold medal would be the ultimate but silver is not too shabby either when it comes to the Olympic. Hooray for Lee Chong Wei! A silver medal and RM300k is just sweet! ;)

Now, can someone please let me know if this is our first Olympic medal? And what other events are we participating in?

Hot Days

I know I have been slacking lately. 1 post a week? Yikes! But the weather has been so hot and at the same time I have another house that needs me as well. It is not easy to come up with a post especially when you are a busy fulltime wife with no kid (yet) but have 2 blogs. Cynical. Geddit?

Anyways, its Friday today and we are going to have another round of bbq session later today. Our 4th one eversince we moved to this new place a month ago. We are going to have a few friends over and the menus are going to be among others this, this and chicken rice. Are you drooling yet? Hehe. So far, the chicken have been marinated overnight. Grilling will only start when Michael comes home from work. The chicken rice is cooked. I still need to cut & prep all the ingredients for kerabu mangga and salsa. Well, cant have all Malaysian goodies can we? Kerabu mangga for us Malaysian and salsa for everybody.

On another note, it is 3 weeks away before Merdeka. What are you going to be doing on that day? Partying at the clubs? Seeing the fireworks at KLCC? Organising makan-makan (eating) at your house? Share with me ok?

With that, have a great weekend everybody.

Cooking & Mummy Tomb of The Dragon Emperor

Thank you all for the kind words. I am feeling much better now. Not jumping anymore at the slightest sound and you know how sensitive my hearing is. I basically hears everything especially that irritating dripping sound in the bathtub or sink. Arrgh! Those just drive me cra-zee.

Somehow despite being a little bit jumpy, I managed to cook 3 things the very next day. I made meatballs, murtabak/curry puff and tada! Peanut Butter Chocolate Nutella Maple Syrup Marble Cake. I dont know what got into me but maybe deep down inside, I was just shaken and the default-mode kicked in to keep my mind of it. Come to think of it, maybe I should renamed it Quakie PBCNMSMC!

**********************************************************
We watched Mummy Tomb of The Dragon Emperor on Saturday despite the not-so-good review it received. I think its not too bad. Yes, I prefer the first 2 better but this movie deserved a much better review than it did. 1 thing that I dont like is the new Evelyn O'Connell (Maria Bello). I truly feel that she failed big time in fitting into Rachel Weisz's shoes. Her accent was wrong, her facial expression was wrong, even her 'looks' was wrong. Rachel Weisz has that innocent, hard-headed, sweet and/or confused look (for Mummy movies) about her and Maria Bello has none of them. I dont know why they chose her as the replacement. And that made me sad. Throughout the whole movie, I could not stopped myself from saying/thinking, RC would'nt look like that or that scene would look so much better if it was RC instead of MB. I think Kate Winslet or Nicole Kidman would have been a better choice. What do you think?
