A Reminder to CSI's Fans

This is a public service post for all CSI's fans out there especially in MALAYSIA! Before you start telling the Crime Scene Officers how to do their job, please read my friend Munira's post here.

Do not compare real life jobs with those Hollywood tv shows lah wei. CSIs, Law & Order, The Closer and such are for entertainment only. If you want to see the real life show and how things work, go and watch Cops, Forensic Files, Dr. G Medical Examiner or equivalent. These are the real people doing real jobs as police, crime scene officer and doctors. Jangan nak berlagak pandai just because you can say, "I watch CSI". What a dumbass!

Good reminder, Farina. It's sad that there are folks who cannot make the distinction between entertainment and reality. CSI was watchable to me only for its first season. The later episodes became too far-fetch and it irritates me that they always ignore the light switches in every indoor crime scene!

BTW, Farina ... your link to Murina's post pecah. One "http" too many. :)

Thanks for informing me abt the link. Its fixed now. I stil do love watching csi but strictly for entertainment.

Thanks for the promo post, Farina *grins*.

I have no intention to be condescending, so I hope ppl won't misinterpret my article. But seriously, kadang-kadang geram berbaur sakit hati when ppl who don't know their facts nak berlagak pandai.

Pernah I came across this one guy blogging about his house kena pecah masuk, and he called the cops. And then he wrote about how he saw the police lifting fingerprints with "what seemed like Scotch tape". And with that, he proceeded to kutuk-kutuk Msian forensic... that we have lousy equipment and that we are very behind... that no wonder cases banyak tak solve.

Sigh.

Habis tu nak lift fingerprints dengan apa lagi? I don't know what they show on CSI since, like Rita Ho, I've stopped watching that show after the first season. But mmg Scotch tape is basic procedure to lift fingerprints. It's the best equipment for fingerprinting.

Geram, tau tak?

Hi Farina!

Heheheeee... I nak gelak nih... How can anyone believe 100% what they see on TV? It's common sense what, mana boleh percaya semua yang dalam TV, not even the news!

(PS: Nasib baik I suka tengok NCIS je heehehe... Tapi yang tu pun agak far-fetched gak heheheee but at least they're funny)

Munira,

Lifting fingerprints pakai scotch tape tu pernah diajar dalam citer MacGyver zaman dolu-dolu hihihiiii... MacGyver kata kalau nak bagi clear lagi fingerprints tu tabur serbuk pensil sikit (the lead part) heheheheeee... Betul ke? I pernah buat eksperimen ni, tapi gagal heheheee...

Blueberry,

Yes, surprisingly it's true. You can lift fingerprint with the crushed lead from serbuk pensel. Remember it depends on what kind of surface your fingerprint is on. This is a great DIY experiment at home, and may interest children who are keen on experimenting with mini science projects. MacGyver was created back in the days simplicity rules out needless sophistication. However, not all of Macgyver's spectacular methods are true, but it has been proven that some of his tactics actually work! This has been demonstrated on Mythbuster. At crime scenes, the most common treatment for fingerprints is the aluminium powder.

CSI? What's that? Haha. Alaa dok atas kapal ni tak subscribe AXN so no CSI. Next time kena beli boxed DVD set so can lepas gian. Can't help but be amused by your een's comment heh, Yea, even my missus tak tahan tengok mamat Horatio tu cekak pinggang ngan spec 'ribbon'. Sooo macho.

Ooo also enjoyed your VA stories and pictures very much. Good you have a time share there. Ah, yes I can read but posting comments is another matter. So I do stuff offline and then illegally upload it on client's computer for the time being. Must be because of the https nonsense.. susah nak masuk secure sites like blogger or post comments from my network. So also cannot pay bills online via Maybank2u etc..

On a diff. topic, everything has gone to the dogs - the world and also our political stuff back home. When will all this end?

You take care, gal..

Farina, I'm CSI's fan... betul ni.. but strictly coz it's entertaining. Those who compare CSI TV and real life CSI tu memang ridiculous people lah...

I for one, bila tengok TV part ambulance datang tu.. macam laju je..poke here and there, letak atas stretcher, masuk ambulance tak sampai 1 min. What i witnessed in real life (once) bukan camtu pun...

Anyway, I'm pretty sad with Warrick not going to be around in the next season... I'll missed watching him (oh those sexy brown eyes!)... but some spoilers mentioned about him being alive despite having taken two bullets to the neck... aiikk.. boleh hidup ka??

Blueberry, i like all crime shows but theres a diff between entertainment and real life kan? i love ncis too. cant wait for the next season. ;)

Mat Salo, i kno tht feeling. we'v to wait until friday before we get our cable and all so right now tengok regular tv ajelah. tension giler. Eh where got horatio macho? :P i baca jugak cerita at home base walaupun bertambah memening kan kepala.

Kak Ja, farina missed the last couple shows of csi so tak tau apa cerita. warrick possibly takde ke? sedih babe. he's the most macho csi guy! lol.

Yatie, girl, lama nye lah cerita tu. i tak tengok mythbuster. dont kno why tht one i tak minat.

Hey Kak Farina,

Haha! You know, I always said that if real-life was like House, M.D., there would be NO sick people, and NO criminals, because all sick people would be cured in, the most, one week (after they nearly die a few times)...

There will also be NO criminals as all criminals would be very darn stupid to leave all the evidences behind and they will all be caught, also within a week...

Our officers will also have super-genius brains and they will know everything from all scientific names, habitats, fur-type etc of plants, animals, metals, all man-made stuff, and they will also know the chemical composition of every substance on earth offhand. They will also know what time the plants are watered in every park, where the people in all apartments buy their fertiliser and detergent and what they eat at what time...

And Sharlinie will no longer be missing...

Salam Princess,

I honestly do like CSI, but lost interest in it when too many people began talking about it as though the science is something totally new. Then I lost total interest when the started the spin offs.

Daphne, thts vey true. and we wudn have cold cases yg berpuluh2 tahun! the thing tht u said abt knowing all the composition is sooo funny! lol.
