Kite Flying (Attempt)

We (SoCal) are experiencing 4-days heat wave at the moment. It is like really really hot. Since Saturday we have been getting high 90F temperatures and some places even got 100F. Today is supposed to be the last day of summer-in-spring weather before it goes back to normal temperatures of low to middle 60F. Can't wait since I have been donning kain batik (batik sarong) or pareo at home. My aunt would find that very funny since I don't normally wear kain batik. Shorts would be my choice of clothing when the weather is hot but at this new apartment, we don't have any a/c and I find shorts to be not cooling enough.

Anyways, these pictures were taken 2 weekends ago when the weather was in mid 60F and rather windy. Michael decided that he wants to have a kite and bought a 3-d kite in the shape of aeroplane as you can see from the pictures. At first we just went to the park next to our apartment but after a few attempts, we realised that it is not windy enough so we decided to go down to the beach which would guarantee a continuos wind.

While he was busy trying to get the kite up and flying, I got bored and decided to just hang out near the water. It was too windy and too cold to even walk in the water. So I scrapped my plan of wetting my feet. Since I was the one holding the camera, of course I was not in any of the pictures but I was wearing a winter jacket!

Enjoy the pictures. Next time I will try to take the picture of my new bicycle when we are at the beach and I will take some pictures of the campers.

Bila pulak you sendiri nak try fly the kite? And don't forget to wear your kain batik when doing that... ;)(nanti kite tak fly, kain yang fly!)

When I was little, my dad used to bring me go kite flying in Padang Merdeka, Malacca. The field was situated just beside the sea and I can still remember the sea breeze in my face. Lovely!

Unfortunately the sea has been reclaimed and that is where Melaka Parade is today.

Dear Farina,
Please make sure that you don't wear that sarong in the water pulak. Try it out and you'll know what I mean!

I used to like kite flying, but I think that was eons ago!

Kerp, yes its about 5min drive. bestkan?

Pi, i would if it's not 3-d. I prefer old-school kite. Masa kecik2 dulu my bros selalu buat sendiri. Ish tak sempat kain tu melayang dah terlondeh Pi oi! lol.

Julie, kite flying ni memang reminded us of our childhood kan? Unfortunately here the kites are those fancy schmancy and can cost lotsa moolah. I dont like them. I prefer the simple kind.

Kak Ja, pakai kain dalam air jadi pelampung lah pulak! hahaha.

Pearly, the beach is actually kinda dirty with dead woods and shells and etc. The weather is back to being gloomy again whc is good for me. I cant stand the heat. ;)

Hi Farina,
Wow; it's not like I'm in total need of the beach, but when I see Cali in photos like this, it makes me dream a bit !

Yeah; Michael made it !! It's not always easy to fly a kite.I flew a few kites in Hawaii.

I enjoyed your pics; Thanks for sharing. ;)

Cath, it was actually freezing cold that day but windy so good for kite flying sbb tu dia nak pergi. Come here so we can fly kite together-gather ya?

Barb, the kite refused to fly higher than in the pictures. Dunno what's wrong. He trid and tried and tried. Poor guy.

Lyana, kalau guna lidi kena hembus angin sikit dah patah yang oi! With wind here, kena guna at least buluh baru ngam. :P
