California Fire

I woke up on Friday morning to the news about fire in Southern California that started the night before. It was kinda weird since last week was rather a cold week. Of course by late Thursday mother nature decided to move in a 180degree turn and give us hot weather and high wind which is a lethal formula for brush fire.

On Saturday we decided to watch the new James Bond movie at The Block in the city of Orange. We can already smell the smoke even before we got on to the 22 freeway. The sky on our side was blue but followed by a very dark cloud no thanks to the wind that blew the smoke from the fire area. The sun was red and the air smells of smoke. We arrived at the mall at noon and surprisingly it was easy to find a parking. Pretty unknown of at The Block especially on weekend.

The fire has so far burned hundreds of homes from multi-million dollar mansions to mobile homes. The only good thing is that so far there is no death. But I really feel for those mobile homes owners. Where are they going to live? Winter is approaching and although winter here is pretty mild, it still gets very cold at night. Where are they going to go when there is no home to go back to? My prayer goes to all of them.

Hi Farina,
I'm glad that you & Michael are well. We have been watching the news reports and also feeling bad for people.
It makes me think of last year when San Diego got the fires.I was really worried;my cousins were all very lucky that year.

Stay strong and be careful about inhaling too much of that smaoke ( if you can)

Hugs xx

I feel sorry for all the victims. But some of them said they will rebuild their home there. I applaud to that. Stay tune to the news and hope you and Michael are safe.

Hope that you aren't getting too much smoke + ashes. Its been quite bad here ( smoke +ashes, I mean). Thank goodness, we weren't otherwise affected. Jerrys niece + nephew in law who live in Yorba Linda + Diamond Bar underwent mandatory evacuations.
Like you, my heart goes out to those who lost their homes. Many couldn't get fire insurance and are left to start over from scratch.

forgive my ignorance but i dont quite get it. mobile home tu apa ya? i mean if its mobile, surely the owner can move his home to a safer place.

That's very unfortunate :( My prayers go to them.

If I'm not mistaken the mobile home Farina's referring to is a trailer. In America there are parks reserved for trailer home owners where they park the trailers and live there. I'm assuming the fire was too fast for them to move? Plus, I think you need to hitch up the trailer to a vehicle in order to move them, that must take some time.

Barbara, thank you. Cali fire seems to be getting worse each time. :(

Zue, its easier for those who have the money but the rest? sigh..

Gurdeep, ur side always get lotsa smoke and ashes when there's fire kan? Thank god ur area not affected. Hows Jerry's niece's house?

Sue, me not infected with anything. :P But yes thank god so far our areas not affected.

Dr.No, welcome back and congrats! Thank you for the wish too. ;)

NW, yes the weather on our side is back to normal now.

Kerp, no worries. Mobile home tu macam box house. It stil look like a house cuma takde tiang dalam tanah. so boleh letak something underneath and move it. But its not like a car where you can start the engine and run.

Pearly, im sure not all of those mobile home owners bought a full coverage or any at all. I really hope they'd get some kind of help somehow.

Kak Ja, yes we are always thankful tht we live nowhere near the fire areas everytime it happens. Memang kesian kan the mobile home owners tu?
